Review - Nearly Broken by Devon Ashley

We’d both gone missing at one point, but Claire had one thing I didn’t. Someone to notice. So why was I the one still here and she the one still gone?

Nineteen year old Megan Smith has spent the past year working in a small town diner in the middle of nowhere. Life is quiet, simple, safe. Then comes the news that her look-a-like has gone missing.

Claire.

Still damaged both physically and mentally, Megan's not looking to be noticed. Wherever she goes from here, it's a road she needs to take alone. But when Nickolas Ellis takes the job as the new nightshift cook, it scares her how easily her defenses crumble down, down, down for him. But there are secrets she can't bear to share with just anyone, unspeakable acts that continue to haunt, and when the similarities of Claire’s abduction couples with the fear of an unwanted visitor in town, the urge to run before it all happens again intensifies, threatening the only happiness Megan's ever found.

Sav's 4 Star Review

Oh for the love of dark reads.... This is definitely not a book  for the faint of heart. It's dark and has dark themes so if you are uncomfortable with rape amongst other things too then I suggest you skip this one.

So this book was definitely filled with more angst and tension then I ever expected. Megan has been put through the ringer. She is alone and broken and honestly loves her solitude. She endured hell on earth and literally has nobody and that absolutely broke my heart for her. Living day to day in fear is no way for anyone to live and that is exactly how she lived day in and day out. Honestly, I don't even call that living, I call it surviving.

Megan worked in a small diner, it wasn't much but it was enough. Until the day that Nick is hired as a cook at that tiny diner. He is amazing and sexy and an amazing cook to boot. He slowly starts to peel down the layers behind and Megan and soon her walls crumble.

News of a missing girl rocks Megan to the core. This girl looks exactly like Megan and that brings tons of unwanted attention. Fear starts to take hold and the one thing she tried so hard to hide may soon come out.

Megan opens up to Nick, trusting him with her most darkest secrets but Nick does not reciprocate, and hides something from Megan.

Can they get past the demons that haunt their pasts enough to move forward with love? That is something you have to read to find out yourself.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a dark read with mystery and angst. It will, at times have your belly in knots but trust me the ride is so worth it. This book was one that I won't soon forget.
