BOOK REVIEW - The five stages of falling in love by Rachel Higginson

The Five Stages of Falling in Love is a Contemporary Romance.
Elizabeth Carlson is living in the pits of hell- also known as grief.

Her husband of eight years, the father of her four children and the love of her life, died from cancer. Grady's prognosis was grim, even from the start, but Liz never gave up hope he would survive. How could she, when he was everything to her?

Six months later, she is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and get the kids to school on time. Both seem impossible. Everything seems impossible these days.

When Ben Tyler moves in next door, she is drowning in sorrow and pain, her children are acting out, and the house is falling APART. She has no time for curious new friends or unwanted help, but Ben gives her both. And he doesn't just want to help her with yard work or cleaning the gutters. Ben wants more from Liz. More than she's capable of ever giving again.

As Liz mourns her dead husband and works her way through the five stages of grief, she finds there's more of her heart to give than she thought possible. And as new love takes hold, she peels away the guilt and heartache, and discovers there's more to life than death

Review

This book, oh this book. I don't even know where to begin with this one. I'm a sucker for an ugly cry book. Everyone that knows me, knows this to be true. By reading the synopsis you know that the herione is going to be consumed by grief. I already knew what was going to happen so how could I ugly cry? This was my mind set. And let me tell you how wrong I was.

From page one you are slapped with grief. You feel the pain, the hurt, the fear. You feel it all and as a reader you just want to fix it, to help her, to save him but obviously that couldn't happen. Elizabeth's husband Grady, oh sweet Grady, you love him instantly and that is what makes it so hard. He's frail and weak and dying but still his main concern is his wife. He loved her with his whole heart and THAT is what true love is all about folks.

This story is much more than a romance novel, it's a story of life, love, and family. Liz has so much support from her children it just brings tears to your eyes. It'a strong foundation on the meaning of the word family and I loved that about this book.

I really didn't know how the author would be able to make this a romance. I mean after what had happened to her heart, I didn't think Liz could ever fall in love again - not with her whole heart anyways but then we meet Ben. God he's top book boyfriend material. He's everything you'd want and need in a BBF. Patient, kind, loyal, loving. I honestly can't discuss Ben without getting chills - honestly this whole story is chill inducing. You get your five stages of falling in love and trust me, you dont want to miss out of this heartbreakingly beautiful story. 5 stars!
