ANEW - Book One : Awakened by Josie Litton - Review

In a world of glittering desires

“Slowly, afraid it is all yet one more cruel dream, I open my eyes.”

In this erotic retelling of “Sleeping Beauty” set in the near future, a beautiful young woman awakens in the garden of a secluded palazzo with no knowledge of who she is or how she came to be there. For the man who walks out of the darkness to claim her, she is at once the ultimate challenge and the greatest temptation.

Haunted by terrifying memories of another existence, Amelia is caught between passionate desire for Ian and longing to discover her true self. Even as he is determined to possess her body and soul, Ian’s need to protect Amelia leads him into a confrontation with his tormented past.

Together, they face the challenges that lie beyond the sanctuary of the palazzo in the glittering world city on the edge of cataclysmic change.  In the midst of sensual excess that conceals seething rebellion, Amelia and Ian will discover that love has become the ultimate threat to survival.

In the interest of full disclosure, this is a work of erotic romance that includes a suspense subplot.  It is approximately 99,000 words in length and contains explicit (M/F, monogamous) sexual scenes.  Amelia’s age (22) and her search for her own identity add a  New Adult slant. Books One and Two end with partial cliffhangers (some issues are resolved in each book, others are left to continue to the next). Book Three brings Amelia and Ian’s story to a HEA conclusion.

Amanda's Review

Amelia is in a position we all want to be in. Under a powerful, sexy, protective man. Ian has a possessive streak a mile wide and if you are so fortunate to be considered his, whew, look out.

They both have demons they are fighting, but don't we all? It is how we handle the hard times that make or break us. Amelia wants to help Ian, but the powerful like control and don't want to depend on someone else to fight for them.

I personally am not a fan of cliffhangers, but I totally get why authors do it. Keeps me coming back for more, and more. I can't wait to see how this rocky relationship between Amelia and Ian progresses. Will they help each other fight heir demons. Or will he push her away.

Please, please Josie..... Write fast!!!!
4 Stars!!!
