Synopsis
This is not your typical rock star romance. For one, the “rock star” is a rapper. And not just any rapper. Trace is the hottest ticket in the music industry right now, regardless of which definition of ‘hot’ you choose.
Taryn Starr is not the girl-next-door who unknowingly meets a celebrity. Known as “America’s Sweetheart,” the reigning country music princess and world-renowned superstar knows exactly who Trace is…or does she?
Their worlds collide when the musicians whose paths were never destined to cross are forced by their joint record label to collaborate on a song. The sparks fly and ignite a fire that blazes hotter with every minute they spend together—for better or worse. One thing’s for certain, the two media magnets can’t deny their explosive chemistry, but will life in the spotlight ultimately bring Trace and Taryn together or force them apart?
Leia's Review:
Collaboration was such a different story! The romance between a rap star and a country singer was something that I haven’t read about before.
I was intrigued from the first page and it held my attention throughout the whole book. I love that the authors didn’t paint the superstar lifestyle as one glammed out party. We see that so much and it was refreshing to read about the hard work and dedication that these artists put into their work. It’s not all one big party. It is a lot of hard work and sacrifice that often gets overshadowed by the glamorous lifestyles shown in the media.
This book also focuses on the sacrifices that Trace and Taryn make to be who they are expected to be. Forced by their label to collaborate on a song, they quickly begin to see the they aren’t the people the media has made them out to be. Spending time together opens their eyes to the fact that they have more in common with each other than they first thought.
Building their relationship through phone calls, text messages and short visits means that the foundation they are laying is built on trust and common interests. I’m not saying that it is a rainbows and butterflies – fighting against the media, Taryn’s money hungry mother and Trace’s reputation cause bumps in the road along the way. Not to mention, both Trace and Taryn have things about their past that they want to keep secret.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It wasn’t deeply emotional or overly erotic – it just was what it was. Trace and Taryn, together, overcome obstacle after obstacle cementing their untraditional relationship in love and trust. It was a great story with a fantastic ending!
