OMG! WTH! GOOD
LORD! WHAT THE WHAAAT? WOWZERS!! Pick any freak out phrase...now multiply that
times a thousand...and just maybe, just maaaybe you'll begin to scratch the
surface for how I'm feeling right now!!!
Admittedly,
although I own a few of Colleen's books, this is the first book of hers I've
read. And holy Schmidt cakes. What a way to have my book cherry popped!
Whoa...just
whoa. The angst, oh the angst. What does one say about a book that is pure
genius...other than its pure genius?
Other CoHo fans
warned me that once I read one of her books, I’d be hooked!! Well, I’d say
that’s an understatement! The way she reeled me in and made me fall in love
with all the characters (even when I didn’t want to), was like; “oh no she
didn’t!” But she did, and did it in such a manner; I didn’t even feel it
coming. One minute I was rooting for one person, and then the next minute I was
rooting for someone else! All while having one great big love fest for
everyone.
This book is a
journey like no other that I’ve read. Sure, it has some of the same elements as
other books: angst, anguish, anger, lust, love, laughter, loneliness, etc. But
it has something that no other book I’ve read has…the element of music. The
addition of having to use another human sense brings new meaning to reading.
The lyrics are beautiful to read, but the music breathes life into them. <3
<3 <3
If you’re like
me and have never read a Colleen Hoover book; NOW is the time to start you’re
love affair with this beautifully talented author. And if you’re an old pro at
CoHo books, don’t miss out on one-clicking at midnight! I’m sorry I waited so
long, but I’m happy I was able to experience this kind of introduction!!
Right now, you’re probably asking yourself two things: Who am I? And, what the hell are you doing here?
Let’s start with the most obvious question, shall we?
You’re here, ladies, because you can’t f*ck.
Oh, stop it. Don’t cringe. No one under the age of 80 clutches their pearls. You might as well get used to it, because for the next six weeks, you’re going to hear that word a lot. And you’re going to say it a lot. Go ahead, try it out on your tongue. F*ck. F***ck.
Ok, good. Now where were we?
If you enrolled yourself in this program then you are wholly aware that you’re a lousy lay. Good for you. Admitting it is half the battle.
For those of you that have been sent here by your husband or significant other, dry your tears and get over it. You’ve been given a gift, ladies. The gift of mind-blowing, wall-climbing, multiple-orgasm-inducing sex. You have the opportunity to f*ck like a porn star. And I guarantee, you will when I’m done with you.
And who am I?
Well, for the next six weeks, I will be your lover, your teacher, your best friend, and your worst enemy. Your every-f*cking-thing. I’m the one who is going to save your relationship and your sex life.
I am Justice Drake. And I turn housewives into whores.
Now…who’s first?
Excerpt-
From TAINT, by
S.L. Jennings:
“Unless he’s completely desperate or
under the influence, a man can’t - and won’t - fuck what doesn’t get him hard.”
Less gasps this time, but every perfectly
powdered face is beet red with embarrassment, causing my mouth to slide into a
sardonic smirk.
Truth be told, I love this shit. I love
ruffling their meticulously groomed feathers. Their obvious discomfort entertains
me. Seeing the rosy hue of coyness bleed through their blush is like a balm to
my little, sadistic soul.
“And in that case,” I continue, “you
don’t want him anyway. What you do want is for him to be salivating at the
soles of your Jimmy Choos. And let’s face it, ladies… that’s not happening. Why
do you think that is?”
Crickets. Fucking crickets.
“Anyone? Come on, ladies. I can’t help
you unless you want to be helped. So unless you all have picture-perfect
marriages and husbands that blow your backs out on a regular, I should see some
hands.”
This time I’m rewarded with the almost
simultaneous intake of eleven breaths. They’re all still here. All willing to
bare their souls and dirty laundry in an attempt to rekindle the doused flame
between their thighs.
You see, women are liars.
Yeah, I said it. L-I-A-R-S.
They want intimacy just as badly as men
do. But to them, intimacy is more than just the physical act of sex. They want
to be cherished yet want a man that will get down and dirty. They want tenderness,
but crave to be banged like a $2 hooker. They want a man that’ll go all night,
but still have the energy to kiss and cuddle and talk about their feelings
afterward.
Listen up, ladies. We’re fucking tired!
You try going jackrabbit-style, throw in some Cirque du Soleil moves and see if
you can keep your eyelids peeled. Us passing out after sex is a compliment- a
testament to how good it was. And quite frankly, if your dude can hop out of
the sack and go to work or run a marathon, then he still has energy left for
sex. He’s just done having sex with you.
Most known for her starring role in a popular sitcom as a child, S.L. Jennings went on to earn her law degree from Harvard at the young age of 16. While studying for the bar exam and recording her debut hit album, she also won the Nobel Prize for her groundbreaking invention of calorie-free wine. When she isn’t conquering the seas in her yacht or flying her Gulfstream, she likes to spin elaborate webs of lies and has even documented a few of these said falsehoods.
Circumstance forced Eden Mercer to sell herself to Dominic Armstrong for half a million dollars and in return she is to play the dutiful wife in public and submit to him completely behind closed doors.
The Tyrant.
Dominic is Ruthless, manipulative and sadistic but Eden is determined not to break under his cruelty. But how does one persevere when in the clutches of a Monster?
It was on occasions like these that Eden realized how very little she mattered to her husband. He never failed to remind her of her status in their marriage whether it was with his remarks that have only grown nastier over the years or the reproachful looks that seemed to carve across her flesh like a whip. Like now for instance she could feel that piercing stare from across the room, the distinct bite of his scorn putting her instantly on alert. She hadn't really done anything in the last few minutes to warrant the reaction but then again Dominic Armstrong didn't need much to set him off these days. She sighed resignedly daring to look away fully knowing that he would take her to task for this unknown reason later. Eden grabbed a champagne flute from the tray of a passing waiter before escaping to the veranda for some much needed air. They were up in the Grafton Highlands at another dull event that he’d dragged her to because he wanted to flaunt her to his equally wealthy friends.
He’d made their roles distinctively clear at the beginning and she’d gone along with it because she’d needed the protection of his name and the money that went along with it. She had been one eviction notice away from homelessness and he’d done it to keep her from ruining his younger brother’s life as he’d put it. Lucas Armstrong had been a good customer of Eden’s; coming to Crazy-Pussy for a good year before he’d proposed marriage. But then his big, bad brother, the head of the Armstrong family had gotten wind of his errant brother’s ridiculous idea and had marched in to shut the whole thing down. Once he’d seen to bully his brother back to college where he belonged, threatening his inheritance if he refused to cooperate, Dominic had zeroed in on Eden. He’d stalked the club for a good month after that, sitting always in the front row in that wingback chair, his predatory gaze watching her every night she’d performed. He’d frightened her to the core, big and boorish as he’d been he’d waited patiently, artfully manipulating every aspect of Eden’s life until she’d come to him.
He’d wanted her badly enough that he’d grudgingly agreed to her one condition… marriage. Mistresses were expendable, wives were little harder to dispose of and Eden had been armed with at least that little knowledge. He’d given her a day before finally coming to her with his own terms. It’d been overwhelming; the legalese of the documents he’d presented with his attorney had all been a jumble to her. Logic had warned her not to sign the papers before having a lawyer look it over, but she’d been blinded by the seven carat diamond ring he’d presented her with. Their wedding had been a quiet affair with little frill and the honeymoon had been on a private island in the Mediterranean Sea. Twenty-three to his thirty-five, Dominic Armstrong, media mogul and Fortune 500’s top five wealthiest people had paid quite handsomely to possess her, to own every inch of her, a fact he rarely ever forgot to remind her. He was the bread winner; the Alpha dog with a type A personality and Eden was tasked to do simply two things, be the arm candy in public and the whore in bed.
He made sure he roused a response from her each and every time he fucked her and while he tended to be quite cruel when the mood stuck him, he received a sick fascination from hearing her beg for more. But Eden never protested, never complained in the face of his oftentimes sadistic streaks. She was the dutiful, biddable wife who lived a lavishly luxurious life and in exchange he could damn well treat her however he wanted. In comparison to the squalor she’d grown up in and the poverty she and her single mother had faced, Eden would say that her marriage to Dominic was a small price to pay.
She downed the champagne in one go and set the flute on the balustrade. She peered down just below into the nothingness and silently mused whether the darkness would catch her if she plummeted. Giving into a sudden bout of inanity, Eden slipped out of the four inch heels that had cost a small fortune and lifted herself up on the ledge. She bit her bottom lip to keep her smile at bay as she spread out her arms and closed her eyes. Fear was not an emotion she felt here, it was simply the darkness around her and the summer breeze caressing her skin. Exhilaration swept through her, the wind making her feel like she was flying. Freedom was in that moment, enveloping her on all sides and taking her away from everything. Up here she was nothing and everything all at once. She opened her eyes and looked down into the abyss, facing her mortality. Laughter burbled up from the pits of her stomach and escaped on the wind.
“Don’t jump.” the unexpected sound of that voice shattered through Eden’s introspection, startling her completely. She wavered, her body teetering towards the nothingness below and her heart began to race now for a completely different reason as real fear poured like ice water into her veins. She was going to fall, she thought inanely, but then… she wasn't. She was yanked forcefully backwards by an unyielding manacle of flesh around her waist. Eden landed unceremoniously on top of her rescuer in complete disarray, stunned at what had almost been her death.
“I do sincerely hope this isn't what it looks like, Eden?” Her senses returned just then, her husband’s drawl had Eden closing her own eyes for a brief second attempting to regroup herself before she had to face him. She unsteadily came to her feet unconsciously leaning on the guy who’d not only caused this mess, but had also rescued her from impending death. When she found her footing, Eden turned to him with a tentative smile before meeting her husband’s gaze. There was nothing on Dominic’s classically handsome features that indicated his fury, he looked unperturbed, bored even with this scene, but Eden knew the truth. She’d become a veteran in reading his moods and nothing foretold it more than those dark green eyes.
“Well I’m not sure what it looks like to you, sweetheart, but this man just saved my life.”
“Did he?” he retorted, sizing up the other man and quickly dismissing him as someone of no consequence. “And what exactly was it that he saved you from, pet?” caught once more beneath that cold green stare, Eden attempted another tactic knowing that she was only making it worse for herself.
“I was being silly,” she began with a small laugh, raking a hand through her hair to act every bit the airhead he believed her to be. “I was sitting on the ledge not realizing how much I've had to drink. This man…” she stopped suddenly looking at the man with the blue eyes.
“I’m sorry…I didn't catch your name.”
“Matt.”
“Matt came right along and pulled me just before I tipped over.”
“Well then, we should commend Bruce on hiring such agile employees.” He smoothly took off his dinner jacket and swept it over Eden’s shoulders. “And you, dear wife,” he tugged on the lapels of the jacket to bring her closer to him. “need to be a lot more careful.” The kiss was not only meant to exhibit ownership but it was precursor to the punishment that was to come. “Now, let’s go home.” When he made to lead them away, Eden set a gentle hand on his chest to halt his progress.
“What about the man who rescued the woman your wife?” Dominic looked down at her and Eden knew she’d pushed too far, but she wanted him to acknowledge the man—Matt for what he’d done. Eden wanted to watch her husband abase himself for a moment to the man he’d dismissed as nothing more than something he found under his shoe.
“Very well,” he disengaged himself from her and slipped a hand inside his pant pocket. “What’s the going rate for rescuing damsels these days? Two…three hundred?”
“A thousand dollars should do it, I think.” Eden said with a touch of spite meeting those blue eyes that peered at her a little curiously.
“A thousand dollars,” Dominic chuckled dryly, “I seem to recall paying a lot more for you, my sweet.”
Eden blanched, her heart slamming painfully against her breastbone at the backhanded comment. He was so much better at playing this game of malice than she was. To think that she’d set out to humiliate him just now, but he’d volleyed so effortlessly, hitting her exactly where he knew it would hurt the most. She felt so sick all of sudden and the air outside wasn't enough to ease the tightening in her chest.
“I’m good.” She heard Matt say. “I was just doing my job, Sir.”
“Then we’ll let you get back to it.” He turned away from James a sure dismissal as any before setting hand at the small of Eden’s back and leading her away.
***
He was brutal, completely without mercy as he took her. He burrowed his hands in her hair, cruelly yanking her head far back to meet his hard stare. “You’re such a fucking whore.” It was his favorite thing to call her when they were in bed. Debasing her this way, making her remember exactly who and what she was fulfilled his complete dominance over her. The diamond studded collar he’d purchased for her adorned her beautiful caramel neck, the leather chain attached to it was wound tightly around his other hand so that his every thrust coincided with the tugging of the chain. “I own you, Eden.” He whispered harshly, breathlessly along her ear. “Every inch of you belongs to me and I will brand my name on your delectable ass, my pet, so that you never forget it.” His thrusts grew erratic as he brutally rammed into her and then with a smack on her ass he was done.
When he eased out of her and rolled off the bed, Eden did not utter a word and remained completely still, trying to become one with the mattress he’d just viciously fucked her on. She even tried to keep her breathing minimal and simply listened to his movements around the bedroom. He would go to the bathroom first and rinse off his brutality like it was a coat of dirt that could be washed off with soap and water. Then he would return to the room, twenty or so minutes later, freshly clean and head downstairs to his home office where he would remain locked away for the duration of the morning. Eden anticipated that moment, waited patiently for it and when she heard the hushed click of the door closing behind him, she finally allowed her body to unfurl from its fetal position.
She didn't immediately slide off the bed knowing she had the next few hours all to herself, Eden sat on the edge of the large sleigh bed, her smooth caramel legs dangling from the edge, feet barely touching the cream carpet on the floor. She’d always been short, standing no taller than the woman who’d given her birth. A sad smile touched Eden’s lips as she thought about her mother. She wouldn't be happy if she knew this was how Eden had ended up.
A rich man’s blow up doll.
My review-
I started this book not quite sure what to expect. I had all these guesses on what was going to happen and turned out, I was completely wrong. Dominic was an ass. He only wanted arm candy and a sex toy but in all honesty, I never hated him. Eden entered into the marriage and basically was going to be his arm candy and his sex toy in exchange for money and being financially stable. A change of events makes Eden run far away and hide from her husband and for a while it works but eventually Dominic finds her. Instead of being angry and mad, he just wanted his wife back even if that means accepting a child that he never wanted. It takes Dominic one time to hold his son and he completely falls head over heels. Turns out he is a great daddy and you find out just why he was the way he was. I found his story completely heartbreaking. This book was a really good read. It had drama, lust, sex, and love and shows you how things aren't always what they seem. I give this book 4 stars!
Francette lives in Massachusetts with her amazingly supportive husband of ten years and her darling two year old son. Reading amazing books has led her to writing and she’s dabbled in fan-fiction before self-publishing her own works. She’s constantly thinking up new stories to write and does her best work when music is playing in the background. Romance is where she’s most comfortable but she hopes to one day venture in mystery novels. She has a weakness for coffee ice cream, tropical fruits and a good glass of wine.

My Review
It is no secret that Colleen Hoover is my favorite author, it's just not. She has an amazing way with words that can not even be explained as anything other than exceptional. So when I was given the opportunity to read Maybe Someday, I actually screamed a little bit. I could not wait to dive in and see if she could by chance write a story that would in fact be any more touching and inspiring then her other books Slammed and Hopeless, cause lets be honest the bar had been set and even though I love her and had the upmost faith in her I just didn't know that she was gonna be able to pass that level of amazing-ness. Let me tell you, how wrong I was. Once again her unique ability to consume me completely was amazing. Oh and that's not even the tip of the iceberg because this time you have the music, the lyrics, and the AMAZING talent that is Griffin Peterson to consume you as well. So I promised a spoiler free review and that is what I am going to do. I'm not going to go into detail and break this book down because there is ALOT of things that I refuse to ruin for you, so here goes....
The book starts off with Sydney. Automatically my heart went out to her. Her boyfriend and best friend turned out to be assholes and it left her angry and hurt and essentially alone on her birthday. Well that is until Ridge comes along. He absolutely made me fall in love with him very very quickly. You will almost instantly love him and that love continually grows throughout this book until you are bursting with happiness. Anyway he saves the day. He and Sydney have an instantaneous connection as well that neither of them can explain so they just both put it off on the fact that they both share a love for music. As the book goes on you get to know some of the other characters in the book as well. You will get many laughs and many tears (both happy and sad) Warren being one of my favorite characters in this book is Ridge's roommate. He is hilarious to say the least. The banter and the practical jokes kept me in a fit of giggles.
As Ridge and Sydney continue on their musical journey, their attraction gets even stronger but the thing is they cannot act on the attraction. Neither character is in the right spot in their lives to carry on with a relationship or complicate things or let a fling get in the way. Things were good with them as friends and they couldn't let the lines get blurred and ruin a really good thing.
"Hey heart. Are you listening? You and I are officially at war."
I found myself screaming more than once out of frustration and pain. I could literally feel their hearts bleeding and I just wanted them to be together and I wanted to make it better but at one point I questioned 'How can this get better?' and I had no clue as to how Colleen was going to pull this ending off. It was complicated to say the least. Way more complicated than you can ever expect BUT we are talking about Colleen here so of course I got the ending I had prayed for and then some. It was an incredible journey of life, love, and lyrics all wrapped up beautifully into one book.
"Lines are drawn but then they fade, for her I bend. For you I break"
I highly recommend this book to each and everyone. It is awe inspiring. The beauty behind the lyrics is amazing. The beauty behind the story is even more heart warming than I could have ever imagined. This book doesn't just tell a story, it takes you on a journey. I know my review is extremely vague but when you read you will understand my need to be vague and thank me :) I give this book 5 awe inspiring stars!
Maybe not right now. Maybe not tomorrow. But Maybe Someday
Lucian Bane’s inner Dom is out of control and hungry for things he can’t name. When he signs up for Dom Wars, he meets Tara who is naive to the BDSM world. Her reckless dominance and puritan heart fascinate him. But when he discovers the pain in her past, it unleashes his true Dom within.
Sav's Review
I went into this book skeptical because it was 111 pages. Books that are just not completed when they could be sold as 2 or 3 full length books but instead sold as 5 or 6 100 page short stories tend to just piss me off. But I kept hearing all of the buzz surrounding this particular book so I figured what the hell, if it's good then it may change my mind on short stories altogether. Sadly that was not the case. While I may be in the.1 percentile, I have to be honest. So here is my honesty. I actually couldn't even finish the book. I think I may have gotten 30% when I stopped. I read LOTS of books on Dominance and Submission and this one to me just seemed..... made up. A true Dom wouldn't sign up for 'game' to be labeled as TOP DOM because let's face it. A true Dom knows just that. He may not be #1 to the world but to a lucky sub he is ALL that she needs so why publically join a pissing contest? I found it to be very confusing at times as well. The way it was written just kind of lost me. It was almost clinical and the characters seemed very bland. Once again this is my opinion and I don't suggest anyone not read the book because of my opinion because most seem to like it. It just sadly didn't do it for me. I give this book 2 stars

About the Author
I must've been 5 or 6 when I started writing "stories". I would write them and hide them. Not wanting anyone to see my "secret" thoughts. I needed to write -even back then. Now I'm just not hiding them anymore. Is that a sign of maturity? Nah ....
Writer, photographer, insatiable wanderluster, edge-player, foodie, music addict, pop culture fanatic, animal lover, warrior for the rights of people and planet, and avid cusser (am a Native New Yorker, so very little offends me ... and if I am offended, it must be pretty freaking bad .. like bad grammar!).
I am big believer in signs and if we keep ourselves open, there are guideposts all along the way. Stay humble. Be true. Be you.

Eryckas review-
“Your first and your last, Baby Girl. Your first and your last.”
It has been several days and a couple of books since I finished reading Moore than Forever. Why take so long to write a review you ask; because, I needed time to gather my thoughts and cohesively put them into one fluid and comprehensible review.
This series (Needing Moore) is by far one of my most favorite! The final installment brings everything together and wraps it up in a nice little bow…but not without tearing at one’s heart stings, making one gasp, yell, shake one’s ereader as if it was a real person, and wanting more Moore…okay, maybe that was just me.
The way in which Julie breathes life into her characters is astounding. I felt like I was fly on the wall or an invisible creature following along in the lives of Schooner, Mia, and the ‘ensemble’ cast. The sights, smells, and tastes are so real, I could see the streets of NYC, I could smell the African air, and taste the potato latkes. (Side note, potato latkes are delicious!) She weaves the past and the present in such a flawless manner that one could easily get lost in this story and not want to come up for air until the last word of the last sentence in the last chapter was read.
The tribute to New York, the people of the city, to those that lost their lives, those that lost loved ones, and the rest of us that watched 9/11 happen on TV was such and intricate piece of this series. It was a ‘character’ in and of itself. The beauty and grace of how Julie braids this horrific tragedy into Mia and Schooner’s lives was magnificent.
If you haven’t already, you need to read Searching for Moore, Moore to Lose, and one-click Moore than Forever the day it goes live!!

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.
Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.
Leia's Review:
"Sometimes an understanding silence was better than a bunch of meaningless words."
What an exceptionally beautiful story full of love, compassion and overcoming obstacles.
This is the story or Archer Hale and Bree Prescott - two individuals who have been subject to horrid events throughout their lives.
Bree is running. Archer is hiding. Together they learn to live.
Honestly, I was hesitant to read this book because I knew going into it that Archer was mute. And I worried about how that would affect the story – how I would be able to connect to a character that I was so vastly different from. And now, I sit here shaking my head at myself. Scorning myself for my preconceived notions that an author like Mia Sheridan wouldn’t be able to pull off such a complex plot.
It took about 4 minutes for me to become fully invested in this book – in these characters and their story. This book took me over with such a slow rolling intensity, I am still trying to recover from it. I don’t want to reveal too much of the plot – because – well you can’t without giving everything away and it’s so wonderful to watch it unfold as you read and I would want to take that joy away from you.
Archer Hale isn’t your typical macho-hero-bad-boy-book-boyfriend. He is so beautifully broken. Honestly – they best way that I can think to describe him is “man-child”. I know that may sound trite, but it’s true. He is a grown man physically. He is ruggedly handsome. But he has been so unbelievably sheltered that he knows so little about social interactions and the world outside of his home. In spite of all of this, he is fiercely protective and has the biggest heart of any character I have ever read. He is an enigma – and he will go down as one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends.
Bree is….the PERFECT heroine. She is smart, funny and kind. She is beautiful inside and out. I never once doubted her love for Archer – or anyone else that she chose to allow in her circle of friends and “family”. She is open and honest – a “play-no-games” type of girl who just wants to overcome the things that have tainted her life. She just so happens to find that peace in Archer.
There was not a bunch of unnecessary drama and/or angst in this book. Yes, things happened. Some of them make you laugh – others make you cry – but they were legitimate experiences that added to the overall story. I loved that!
This book is hands down one of my all-time favorite stories. I loved every moment of it and the emotions it brought out in me. I laughed, cried, swooned and fell in love. A slow building solid kind of love that you feel to your bones. No doubt this book will stay with me a long time. Thank you Mia Sheridan for sharing your extraordinary talent with all of us.
"Sometimes I think of those little pieces of fabric when life feels really messy and difficult to understand. I try to close my eyes and believe that even though I can't see the other side right then, and that the side I'm looking at is ugly and muddled, that there's a masterpiece that's being woven out of all the knots and loose strings. I try to believe that something beautiful can result from something ugly, and that there will come a time when I'll get to see what that is. You helped me see my own picture, Archer. Let me help you see yours."
